15:00 – 21:00
Pulse ADAMSTOWN PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO RESERVE TWO TICKETS. ONE PER PERSON ONLY! Ticket sales will close at 2pm on the day of.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions we are having to change the way we climb.  For now we have to make sure we do not bring too many people and that we comply with all requests from Pulse staff and the club to ensure everyone's safety. As such we will be splitting those coming to Pulse social climbing nights into three groups of no more than 20 each. Please get your free ticket to book your spot and please only come at the time you have got a ticket for. If there are too many people Pulse may have to ask some to leave so it is imperative that we all stick to our times. Please only get one ticket and be prepared to have to leave at the end of your allotted session if the gym is busy so that new people can come in.  We ask that you do not attend if: You are awaiting a COVID-19 test result You have been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days You have been overseas in the last 14 days You have or have had ANY infectious disease in the last 14 days (dealing with other illnesses increases the risk of having serious complications from COVID-19) You are immuno-compromised or have contact with anyone who is immuno-compromised I know some of these may sound harsh but if there is even one positive case because of us climbing will be shut down immediately, do not ruin it for the rest of us! Additionally we all need to make sure we continue to: Sanitise our hands between climbs Sanitise carabiners at every change over Do not share personal equipment Cough/sneeze into elbows or preferably a tissue instead of on your hands followed by washing/sanitising the coughed on area immediately Keep 1.5m away from each other Comply with limits to how many people in each area (20 in boulder area, 8 upstairs, etc) - these are all labelled Comply with staff instructions - if you do not you will be asked to leave the gym and possibly the club, this is a serious matter with serious consequences for the safety of individuals, the accountability of the club and Pulse I look forward to seeing 39 other people there, stay safe, have fun and climb well!

Blue Mountains Canyoning 2021
Cathedral of Ferns
12-03-2021 17:00 – 14-03-2021 17:15
This trip will be a weekend long trip to the Blue Mountains to see some of the most spectacular canyons in the region (cherry picked to avoid the atrocious hikes and bush bashes often associated with canyoning in the Bluies). That said, there will be several kilometres of hiking and some swimming, so a reasonable level of fitness and confident swimming ability are both essential. We'll be camping at Cathedral Reserve campground near Mt Wilson on Friday and Saturday night, and returning to Newcastle by Sunday night.  We'll aim to leave Newcastle around 5pm on Friday afternoon, which will put us at our camp site by 8:30. Earlier would be better, but this time is subject to uni and work commitments, so more detailed leaving arrangements and car pooling will be sorted out in greater detail closer to the day. The exact plans will likely change depending on the groups and the weather, but at this stage the plan is: On Saturday we'll be abseiling and rock hopping our way down Grand Canyon (one of the highest rated canyons in the Blueies), Juggler Canyon, Water Dragon or Serendipity.  There is about 6km of hiking, some of it up and down steep terrain.  On Sunday, we roll out of bed bright and early to go canyoning again!! The afternoon strikes and we head home, back to Newcastle. All the camping gear you need can be hired from the gear store, as well as wetsuits, backpacks and dry sacks. The club will provide all harnesses, helmets and anything and everything to keep you safe. We'll be grabbing a bite to eat on the way to the Blueies on Friday evening. A club dinner will be provided Saturday evening. *We will discuss meal planning once groups are finalised. You will be required to bring breakfast, lunch and snacks for Saturday and Sunday. Remember, first in best dressed! A training night may be necessary before attending this trip, please keep this in mind. An email will be sent out with further details regarding what to bring closer to the date. Any questions, send me an email at sophie.mckay@uon.edu.au, give me a call 043017740 or shoot me a message.  Sophie McKay NUMC Vice-President
