Pulse Climbing Night 28 September
Pulse Climbing
17:00 – 21:00
PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO RESERVE TWO TICKETS. ONE PER PERSON ONLY! Due to COVID-19 restrictions we are having to change the way we climb.  For now we have to make sure we do not bring too many people and that we comply with all requests from Pulse staff and the club to ensure everyone's safety. As such we will be splitting those coming to Pulse social climbing nights into two groups of no more than 20 each. Please get your free ticket to book your spot and please only come at the time you have got a ticket for. If there are too many people Pulse may have to ask some to leave so it is imperative that we all stick to our times. Please only get one ticket and be prepared to have to leave at the end of your allotted session if the gym is busy so that new people can come in.  We ask that you do not attend if: You are awaiting a COVID-19 test result You have been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days You have been in Victoria or in contact with someone who was in Victoria in the last 14 days You have been overseas in the last 14 days You have or have had ANY infectious disease in the last 14 days (dealing with other illnesses increases the risk of having serious complications from COVID-19) You are immuno-compromised or have contact with anyone who is immuno-compromised I know some of these may sound harsh but if there is even one positive case because of us climbing will be shut down immediately, do not ruin it for the rest of us! Additionally we all need to make sure we continue to: Sanitise our hands between climbs Sanitise carabiners at every change over Do not share personal equipment Cough/sneeze into elbows or preferably a tissue instead of on your hands followed by washing/sanitising the coughed on area immediately Keep 1.5m away from each other Comply with limits to how many people in each area (20 in boulder area, 8 upstairs, etc) - these are all labelled Comply with staff instructions - if you do not you will be asked to leave the gym and possibly the club, this is a serious matter with serious consequences for the safety of individuals, the accountability of the club and Pulse I look forward to seeing 29 other people there, stay safe, have fun and climb well!

Picnic Paddle
Belmont
09:00 – 15:00
Why not come and give paddling a go! We will use the club canoes to gently paddle from Belmont to the small islands near Swansea. For those of you who have not been there before Swansea has a collection of small sandy islands which look like you are somewhere in New Caledonia. We'll be stopping on one of the islands for a 'bring your own picnic'. Remember to bring lunch and a snack or two. The club will provide: - canoes  - paddles - lifejackets You need to bring: - swimwear to paddle in - Recommend a T-shirt and shorts to avoid extreme sunburn - Shoes (thongs, sandels) - water - sunscreen/hat/sunglasses - Lunch and snacks Meet 9am at the gear shed to ensure everyone has the correct gear.  The paddle should take about 30 minutes to an hour each way so a small-moderate level of fitness is recommended (if you can walk across campus without needing a sit down you should be okay!) and there will be the possibility of falling out of your canoe so being able to swim at least ten metres is necessary. Other than that the only requirement is excitement!  Any questions please contact me at ptin265@aucklanduni.ac.nz or 0431757089 - Captain Phil

Morna Point
07:30 – 16:00
Interested to try climbing (or try climbing outdoors)? Desperate to touch some real rocks? It's time for BEGINNER CLIMBING! This crag is tide dependent, so we'll aim to be walking in around 8:30 am, as the tide is on it's way out. Anna Bay and One Mile Beach are some really nice spots up near Nelson Bay, so the trip is worth it even before the climbing! We'll be climbing in a spot that overlooks the water, with a beautiful beach on our walk back from the crag to the cars, so pack your swimmers! There is about a kilometre (~0.6mi) walk between the car park and the crag, plus some scrambling around the headland, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. There is also a small downclimb to enter the crag, we'll have people on hand to assist, but you must have a reasonable level of confidence navigating short rock scrambles. To join this trip you have to A) be a member of the club, and B) have purchased a ticket for the event, which pays for fuel and some gear maintainence.  This trip caters to all skill levels, we supply all the technical equipment and the training you need! What To Bring: - Food and Water for a day -Hat and sunscreen -Sturdy shoes -Hair ties for anyone with long hair.   -Swimmers and towel Transportation will be by way of a car pool, fuel for which is included in your ticket price. Please be at the gear store, located near the cul-de-sac around the back of the Forum gym ("Newcastle University Mountaineering Club" on Google maps) NO LATER THAN 7:30 AM SHARP to make sure everyone has the correct gear. PLEASE DON'T BE LATE WE WILL LEAVE WITHOUT YOU! Follow this link for a video from a previous beginner trip to Morna Point, it's worth it even just for the location https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oqExv0i6vo. These trips traditionally fill up very quickly, so get in ASAP to secure your spot! Slacklining - Learn to walk, rig and sit-start session
cnr Gregson Avenue and Werribi St
12:00 – 16:00
Warmer weather is on the way and with it the chance to go waterlining (slacklining, but over water)! Waterlining is a great way to try big tricks with the water to catch your falls but to get the most out of it you'll need to know how to sit-start mount the line. Come hang out at the park on Saturday and I'll teach you how to set up a slackline and practice your skills. We will have two slacklines so we can cater to all levels, no experience required. Meeting in the park across from my place: https://goo.gl/maps/ktfWbDaBKaUeC7Au5 Due to COVID19 we can't have more than 20 in the park at one time, so I've split us into sessions in case it's required.   Get keen, Trent
