Welcome to new NUMC members, welcome back to the old ones! This post contains information on the club, gear hire, and membership/signup information, so take a sip of coffee and read on!

The Newcastle University Mountaineering Club is a network of adventure-minded people who love nature, the outdoors, and adventure sports! This club facilitates this passion, providing climbing, caving, bushwalking and camping trips, as well as seasonal canyoning trips and social BBQ nights. We also provide a weekly climbing night for our members, which will this year take place at Pulse climbing gym in Adamstown on Monday nights, and provide a networking opportunity so you can meet adventurers from outside the university, who you can then go on additional adventures with, that are outside the current scope of the club.

Climbing Wall

The weekly climbing nights this year are Mondays during semester, 5:30—8:30 pm. Harnesses and shoes will be provided. Entry is open to the paid public but free for members upon showing your membership sticker. Stickers can be obtained on the night upon proof of payment.
The yearly membership fee is $55, which gives you access to all the advertised club trips, weekly climbing nights, and to the Gearstore!

Gear Store

For a small deposit and a small fee, you can hire camping and hiking equipment, packs, tents, sleeping bags, mats and stoves to take on your travels, as well as all the kit required to attend one of our advertised trips! The Gearstore is located under the Forum.

Open most Mondays, 5:00—5:30.

All potential NUMC members must first be a member of NUsport before they can complete the signup process. Current students are automatically registered with NUsport, and so must only provide their student number during the signup process.
For sign-ups, click the membership tab above, and make a tidyHQ account if you haven’t already got one. Several clubs use tidyHQ, (including N.U.D.E.S), and the one account can be used to access all of them! Once you’ve made an account, click the “Memberships” tab, and select “Membership 2020”. Fill in the relevant information, make sure to read the waiver, and pay the signup fee and you will have instant access to our trips under the “Events” tab.
For previous students and staff, you need to fill out an associate membership form and pay and return to the front desk at the Forum Gym on campus. Once you are given your NUsport ID, you can complete the signup process.
For potential members with no association with the University, you must first apply for committee approval before filling out an external membership form, pay and submit to the Forum gym as with an associate membership.
Both forms can be found at www.theforum.org.au/club-sport, under the “club administrators” dropdown at the bottom of the page.

All club-organised trips will be advertised through the facebook group, with tickets purchased under the "Events" tab on our website, numc.org.au.

Any questions, send us an email at committee@numc.org.au
It’s shaping up to be a good semester, so get in quick!
