Welcome to the NUMC homepage. Here you can find details about our Pulse climbing nights, gear hire, memberships, and communications. We look forward to taking you on epic adventures!

The Newcastle University Mountaineering Club is a network of adventure-minded people who love nature, the outdoors, and adventure sports! NUMC facilitates this passion, providing climbing, caving, bushwalking and camping trips, as well as seasonal canyoning trips and social BBQ nights. We also provide a weekly climbing night for our members, which will this year take place at Pulse Climbing Gym in Warners Bay on Wednesday nights & Adamstown on Friday nights, and provide a networking opportunity with other passionate mountaineers.

Pulse Climbing Nights

Each Wednesday at Pulse Warners Bay, and Friday at Pulse Adamstown we run two separate climbing sessions, 5:30-7:30, then 7:30-9:30. Tickets are purchased directly through Pulse climbing and are $8. The link to purchase the Pulse tickets is included in your membership email. There are 20 tickets available for each session but get in fast, they sell out quickly!

UoN Pride Climbing Night
Pulse Climbing
17:30 – 21:30
As part of the University's Pride celebrations we are hosting a night of friendly competitions at Warners Bay this Wednesday!   Grab your NUMC members fee to Pulse for $8 (accessible here https://pulseclimbing.com.au/numc/) as normal and grab a ticket for this event if you would like to join in with the competitions so I know how many scorecards I need. I will touch base with everyone who gets a ticket to help sort out teams of four, feel free to make a team with your friends! The club night will be operating as normal too.   In teams of four you must climb the hardest grade you can in each of the colours of the rainbow, with the highest grade for that colour counting towards your team score. I have set up a digital scoresheet for teams to record their climbs (e.g. red grade 7, orange grade 6, yellow grade 8, etc). Whichever team has the highest score at the end of the night wins, with 5 bonus points on offer for each item of rainbow clothing one of your team members wears on the night (please make sure you don't wear anything that isn't safe to climb in)!   Important housekeeping rules: Please bring your student card, it's a lot for the staff to process all of you whilst tending to their usual customers so please make their lives easy and bring your student card for easy entry. Make sure you have checked in at the front desk Put your shoes and harnesses away it's not Pulse's job to clean up after all of us   Keen to see you there! - Captain Phil
