Landcare, swimming holes and scenery, could this be the perfect trip?

Hunter Intrepid Landcare has been contacted about clearing Cape Ivy (Delairea odorata) and False Capsicum (Solanum pseudocapsicum) from a site on the edge of the beautiful Mount Royal National Park and need some mountaineering muscle to get the job done!

We will be meeting at the gear shed (around the back of the forum at Callaghan) https://goo.gl/maps/rMk2aLHi537bEVMWA at 8 am on Saturday and driving up to the property (about 2 hours drive).

We will spend the day helping the landowner remove the invasive weeds, have a dip to cool off and the night having a few drinks around the campfire. On Sunday we have the option to do an early morning birdspotting walk and then either continue doing landcare or go for a short hike (or both) depending on enthusiasm levels before we drive back on Sunday afternoon. Tools will be provided by Hunter Intrepid Landcare.

Make sure you bring:

  • Warm clothes for at night (it will be more chilly up there than in Newcastle!)
  • Food (Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast, Sunday lunch and plenty of snacks!)
  • Drink bottle and ALL of the water for the weekend (3L per person, per day)
  • Sunscreen and a hat
  • Long, sturdy pants for bush bashing
  • Sensible footwear (boots/running shoes)
  • Tent or spot in a tent (the club has tents we can use)
  • Sleeping bag and mat (club has plenty of both)
  • Cutlery, plate, bowl, cup, etc
  • Swimmmers

Due to COVID we ask that you do not attend if:

  • You are awaiting a COVID-19 test result
  • You have been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • You have been interstate or in contact with someone who was interstate in the last 14 days
  • You have been overseas in the last 14 days
  • You have or have had ANY infectious disease in the last 14 days (dealing with other illnesses increases the risk of having serious complications from COVID-19)
  • You are immuno-compromised or have contact with anyone who is immuno-compromised

If you would like to offset your carbon emissions from all the driving check out our tree planting scheme http://thq.fyi/se/28jhiHY
