Climbing outdoors can be intimidating, especially as climbing can be such a male dominated activity. That's why we've organised a beginner outdoor climbing weekend for our gals and gender diverse pals (sorry - no boiz allowed).
We're heading out to the Blue Mountains for a weekend of touching rock, learning new skills and vibing with awesome people. This trip caters to all skill levels. Outdoor experience is preferred but not required. If you are confident and experienced outdoors, we will facilitate opportunities to lead climb so you can also extend your skills! We supply all the technical equipment and the training you need!
What To Bring:
- Food - dinner will be provided Friday and Saturday night. You'll need to bring your own food for breakfasts, lunches and snacks.
- Water - make sure you can carry at least 2L.
- Tent, mat and sleeping bag (these can be borrowed pending availability)
- Hat, sunscreen and sun safe clothes
- Clothes for 2 adventure days - NOTE Blue Mountains get surprisingly cold overnight. Be prepared for this. Also bring swimmers - there may be a chance to swim on Sunday afternoon after climbing.
- Sturdy shoes for the walk in
- Hair ties for anyone with long hair.
Please be at the gear store, located near the cul-de-sac around the back of the Forum gym ("Newcastle University Mountaineering Club" on Google maps). We will aim to leave on Friday morning to maximise our time in the mountains. If you cannot leave until Friday night, we may be able to arrange a car to leave later in the day PENDING DRIVER AVAILABILITY. Drivers will be compensated by the club for their fuel.
If you have any conditions that might impact your ability to participate, or if you have any questions you can contact me - Hanna Marie on Facebook, call/text me on 0491120772 or email me at hannaferguson95@hotmail.com.
Hope to see you beautiful humans there!
